After fight at Miami Texas Roadhouse a woman hacks her boyfriend with a machete

MIAMI, FL – An argument between a Miami woman and her boyfriend reportedly turned violent last week, ending with the woman’s arrest on attempted murder charges after police say she attacked him with a machete.

Liz Frechel, 49, was taken into custody Friday and now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment. She remains behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.

According to police, the incident began Thursday night at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Miami, where Frechel and her boyfriend were having dinner. Tensions flared when her boyfriend allegedly spotted photographs on Frechel’s phone that appeared to show her embracing and holding hands with another man.

Authorities say the boyfriend left the restaurant upset, while Frechel remained inside. Later that night, he returned to her apartment, intending to leave some of her personal belongings outside on an air conditioning unit, hoping to avoid further confrontation. However, he discovered he had accidentally left his car keys with the items and had to return to retrieve them.

When he arrived back at her apartment, Frechel had already taken her belongings inside. The boyfriend tried to enter the apartment, but Frechel allegedly attempted to prevent him from coming in by shutting the door. The situation escalated when he managed to enter and saw his keys placed on her bed.

Police allege Frechel locked the bedroom door with the two of them inside, preventing him from leaving. According to law enforcement, she threatened him and then retrieved a machete from her closet. As he tried to escape, she was accused of swinging the weapon, slicing his right elbow, and yelling threats, police said.

The man managed to flee from the apartment and drove himself to a local hospital, where he was treated for a significant laceration to his elbow.

A neighbor at Frechel’s apartment complex told investigators she heard shouting, the sound of items being thrown, and later a man crying, followed by someone running from the apartment.

Responding officers tried to speak with Frechel at her unit immediately following the incident, but were unable to make contact. The next day, they returned with a search warrant. Frechel was arrested and, according to law enforcement, declined to comment or offer a statement after hearing her rights.

Frechel’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 25. The investigation continues.
