Memphis, Tennessee – Seventeen leaders and activists advocating for pro-life policies were taken into custody on December 5, 2025, during a peaceful demonstration outside a Planned Parenthood facility. The event was organized as part of the nationwide “Rescue Resurrection” movement, which aims to raise awareness and prompt action against abortion.

Among those arrested were prominent figures in the pro-life community, such as Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue; longtime activist Joan Andrews; and Dr. Monica Miller from Citizens for Life. Their actions, according to organizers, were a form of civil disobedience reflecting their deep commitment to their beliefs.

In a phone call from jail, Nathan Berning, director of Let Them Live, expressed a sense of urgency among participants to make significant sacrifices for what they believe in. He stated, “It’s essential for us to demonstrate our commitment, even if it means facing arrest.”

Randall Terry echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that their decision to accept arrest was an extension of their public advocacy. “If we truly believe that abortion is murder, we must match our actions to our words,” he said. Terry also referenced the legacy of civil rights leaders, suggesting that social upheaval is a necessary part of achieving meaningful change. He urged supporters to join future demonstrations, particularly an upcoming event at the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, D.C.

The demonstration in Memphis was intended to be a peaceful, conscience-driven response to abortion. Participants engaged in non-violent protests, which ultimately led to their arrest by local law enforcement.

After being released, Joan Andrews expressed her gratitude for being part of an initiative that she believes is just the start of a renewed movement. She stated, “Participating in this effort is a tremendous honor, and I appreciate everyone who took part. This is crucial in the fight to protect lives.”

Looking ahead, organizers are calling for a major event on January 22 in Washington, D.C., where they plan to advocate for the prohibition of what they refer to as the “murder pill.” They intend to pressure the FDA to halt the approval of medications that induce abortions, framing the event as a critical statement of their beliefs.

The January action is expected to draw a significant number of participants, as it continues the series of protests under the Rescue Resurrection banner. Organizers stress that such demonstrations are crucial for raising public awareness and promoting their cause across the country.
