Bongino Exits FBI: Shocking Reasons Behind His January Departure Revealed!

Washington, D.C. – Dan Bongino is set to depart from his position as deputy director of the FBI in January 2024, a role he has occupied since his appointment by former President Donald Trump in February. In his announcement on social media, Bongino expressed gratitude to Trump, the FBI’s director, and the U.S. attorney general for the chance to contribute to the agency.

Bongino, who rose to prominence through his podcast and various media engagements, did not disclose the reasons for his resignation. However, Trump praised him for doing a commendable job in office, noting that Bongino is eager to return to his media roots.

Prior to his FBI role, Bongino served as a New York City police officer and a U.S. Secret Service agent, where he was assigned to protect former President Barack Obama. His appointment to the FBI was unconventional, as he became a notable selection despite lacking previous experience within the agency. This drew criticism from the FBI Agents Association, which represents approximately 14,000 current and former agents, who opposed his installation.

In his farewell message, Bongino acknowledged the privilege of serving the American public, stating, “I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you. God bless America, and all those who defend her.”

Throughout his tenure, Bongino was a vocal supporter of Trump and his agenda, including the controversial and unfounded claims surrounding the 2020 election results. He previously described the investigation into the pipe bombs found outside the national headquarters of the Democratic and Republican parties as an “inside job.” Following his appointment, he emphasized the need to prioritize this investigation, which U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi had previously labeled as having “languished.”

Just earlier this month, law enforcement apprehended a suspect related to the pipe bomb case, which had remained unresolved for years. Bongino promoted transparency in investigations during his time at the FBI, with Director Kash Patel commending his efforts and asserting that he had not only completed his mission but had significantly surpassed expectations.

Bongino’s time at the FBI also witnessed a shift in his commentary on public issues. Notably, he altered his previously skeptical stance on the death of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Initially, Bongino had raised doubts about Epstein’s apparent suicide in 2019, but later affirmed that he had reviewed the case file and confirmed Epstein’s death was by his own hand.

In response to Epstein’s case, the U.S. Justice Department and the FBI released a memo this past July, concluding that Epstein had taken his own life and denying the existence of a “client list.” The memo caused frustration among many of Trump’s supporters who continued to speculate about Epstein’s death, further complicating discourse surrounding the case.

Bondi expressed her appreciation for Bongino’s contributions, asserting that “Americans are safer” due to his service with the FBI. As he prepares to return to the media spotlight, Bongino leaves behind a complex legacy marked by both controversy and commitment to his principles.
