Brazen Heist at South Windsor Dealership Leaves Four Cars Stolen

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT – A pre-dawn heist at a car dealership in South Windsor left the business owner and the local community in shock. Authorities and the dealership’s proprietor confirmed that multiple vehicles were stolen from Mike and Tony Auto Sales & Service on John Fitch Boulevard.

Around 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, the perpetrators gained access to the establishment by shattering a window. Surveillance footage captured a man dressed in gray being hoisted through the broken window headfirst. A mere 15 minutes post this incident, the stolen vehicles sped out of the dealership’s premises.

Four vehicles, with a combined worth of approximately $380,000, were whisked away from the main garage of the dealership. In a desperate bid to escape, the thieves used a GMC Terrain to batter and break open the facility’s gate. This very vehicle was later ditched on Edwin Road.

Shamar Mahon, the sales manager of Mile and Tony Auto Sales and also the owner’s son, detailed the night’s unfortunate events. The stolen vehicles’ inventory, as relayed by the business owner to Channel 3, included a 2015 Porsche in purple, a 2022 red and black Dodge Ram, a blue 2022 Dodge Charger, and the maroon 2022 GMC Terrain.

The business’s tracking technology led police to one vehicle’s location in New York City around 3:45 a.m. This isn’t the dealership’s first encounter with such a crime. In a previous incident, stolen vehicles were also traced back to New York State. Mahon expressed his family’s dismay over the recurring incidents despite their continuous efforts to bolster security, having invested significantly over the years.

South Windsor’s town manager, Michael Maniscalco, noted an alarming rise in automotive crime in the area. He stressed the importance of businesses working closely with the police to pinpoint vulnerabilities and safeguard their assets.

Frustration is palpable among the Mahon family. Calling for heightened security measures, Mahon said, “We urge the town and state to intervene. Route 5 demands more patrolling.”

Local law enforcement officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to reach out to the South Windsor police. The dealership has filed an official police report in hopes of reclaiming the stolen vehicles.
