Breaking News: Newport News School Board Warned 3 Times of 6-Year-Old With Gun, Lawyer Says

A special meeting was held in Newport News, Virginia on Wednesday by the Newport News Public Schools (NNPS) board to address the shooting of a teacher by a 6-year-old student at the Richneck Elementary School. The board discussed a possible separation agreement and severance for the superintendent, who had been warned three times that the student had a gun.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday morning when the 6-year-old student allegedly took a gun to school and shot a teacher. The teacher was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a lawyer for the teacher, the school had been warned three times that the student had a gun. The school board has yet to comment on the situation.

The school board also discussed the possibility of a separation agreement and severance for the superintendent. It is unclear if the board will come to an agreement, but they are expected to vote on the matter.
