Browns Secure Deal with Amari Cooper Before Training Camp – Find Out the Details Here!

Berea, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with wide receiver Amari Cooper on a restructured deal, providing him with a $5 million raise as veterans gather for training camp. The new deal also guarantees Cooper the remaining $20 million on his current contract, half of which will be paid as a signing bonus. Originally signing a five-year, $100 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, Cooper remains set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season.

Cooper’s absence from mandatory minicamp in June raised questions about his future with the team. Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that there had been discussions between the team and Cooper’s agent, though the absence was not directly confirmed as being contract-related. Despite missing minicamp and OTA practices, Cooper remains a key figure within the Browns organization.

In light of several wide receivers securing lucrative deals during the offseason, including Cooper’s teammate Jerry Jeudy, who received a three-year extension worth $58 million after being acquired by the Browns in March. General manager Andrew Berry emphasized Cooper’s importance to the team, acknowledging the need to navigate the business aspects while valuing his role both on the field and within the team culture.

As veterans reported for training camp, Cooper was present at the team’s practice facility. The Browns are set to kick off their training camp at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, with Cooper expected to play a pivotal role after a successful 2023 season where he earned his fifth Pro Bowl selection. The Browns traded for Cooper in 2022, showcasing his talents as a top receiver within the league.
