THE VILLAGES, FL – A Burger King employee was apprehended after he attacked a customer and damaged their car at a drive-thru in The Villages over a dispute involving a drink order, police said.
Miguel Garcia, 25, from Lakeland, was arrested and charged with battery, criminal mischief, and disorderly intoxication after an altercation that occurred on Sunday evening at the Burger King situated on Bichara Boulevard at La Plaza Grande.
The altercation began when a customer made inquiries about a special beverage while ordering from the drive-thru lane, triggering a heated reaction from Garcia. Despite several attempts to satisfy the customer’s request, Garcia’s frustration escalated, leading him to strike the customer in the face and subsequently vandalize the hood of the customer’s vehicle, resulting in approximately $800 worth of damage.
Upon the arrival of the Lady Lake Police Department, Garcia was found to be uncooperative and belligerent, prompting him to demand the officers take him into custody. Exhibiting signs of aggression, Garcia discarded his footwear and displayed confrontational behavior.
Officers noted Garcia’s intoxication, citing the smell of alcohol, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. The Massachusetts native was taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was later released on a $2,500 bond.
