Burglary and Standoff Lead to Capital Murder Charge in Livingston Man’s Death: Suspects in Custody and Victim’s Remains Recovered

POINT BLANK, Texas – A Point Blank man has been charged with capital murder and burglary of a habitation after a standoff with authorities. Tyler Lance Williams, 30, is in custody at the Polk County Jail on two bonds totaling $1.1 million.

The investigation began on Dec. 23 and spanned across three counties, according to Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons. The Montgomery County SWAT team assisted in apprehending Williams. During a press conference, Lyons stated that the case evolved from a burglary and arson to a capital murder case. The victim, William McLain, was found deceased.

McLain’s remains were sent to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for a toxicity report. The investigation continues, with law enforcement attempting to piece together a motive for the murder. Officials are looking into other individuals and expect Williams’ charges to be upgraded. The victim and the suspect were known associates, but the details of their relationship and any potential motive for the crime are still under investigation.

The sheriff added that the investigation spanned three counties, with the murder taking place in Polk County. The victim’s remains were found in Horseshoe Lake Estates in Liberty County. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Public Safety, were involved in the investigation.

The Polk County Sheriff emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and law enforcement is not actively seeking any other individuals in connection with the case.
