California Resident Wins Historic $2 Billion Powerball Jackpot

After much anticipation, the winner of the historic $2 billion Powerball jackpot has finally been revealed.

The lucky winner, who hails from Altadena, California, was announced by lottery officials on Friday. The ticket was purchased at a local convenience store and matched all six numbers.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, will receive the largest U.S. jackpot in history. The total prize money amounts to $1.2 billion if the winner opts for the one-time payment.

The Powerball jackpot has been rolling over since September and had reached an estimated $2 billion by the time the drawing took place on November 28th.

The winner is now the sole recipient of a record-breaking sum of money. The previous record for a single winner was set in 2018 when a ticket purchased in South Carolina won $1.537 billion.

The winner of the historic Powerball jackpot is the latest in a series of big lottery winners in California. Last month, another lucky ticket holder from San Diego won the state’s $2 billion SuperLotto Plus jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot will now reset to $20 million for the next drawing on Saturday.
