Canonization Miracle! Pope Francis Recognizes Miracle by Blessed Carlo Acutis and Approves Canonization of 11 Martyrs in Syria

Vatican City – Pope Francis has approved the canonization of 11 martyrs in Syria, along with recognizing miracles attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Giuseppe Allamano. This decision was announced by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, following a meeting with the Pope.

Among the miracles recognized was one attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young layman who passed away at the age of 15 in Monza, Italy, after battling leukemia. The miracle involved a woman from Costa Rica whose daughter experienced a miraculous recovery after prayers made at Blessed Carlo’s tomb in Assisi.

Additionally, a miracle attributed to Blessed Giuseppe Allamano, who founded the Consolata Missionaries, was also recognized. This miracle revolved around the healing of an indigenous man in Cape Verde who survived a jaguar attack in the Amazonian forest thanks to Blessed Allamano’s intercession.

Pope Francis also acknowledged the martyrdom of a Polish priest and a Hungarian-born laywoman who were killed by communists for their faith. Furthermore, the heroic virtues of several individuals, including priests, laymen, and a group of Franciscans killed in Syria between July 9 and 10, 1860, were recognized for canonization.

The decrees released by Pope Francis will lead to a Consistory of Cardinals to discuss the canonization processes of Blessed Carlo Acutis, Blessed Giuseppe Allamano, Marie-LĂ©onie Paradis, and Elena Guerra. The recognition of miracles, martyrdom, and heroic virtues highlights the ongoing commitment of the Catholic Church to honor those who display exceptional faith and dedication to their beliefs.

The approval of these decrees is a significant step in the process of recognizing individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary acts of faith and selflessness. Through these canonizations, the Catholic Church continues to uphold the examples set by these individuals as sources of inspiration and guidance for believers around the world.
