The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals faced off in an intense battle for the AFC Championship on Sunday. After a back-and-forth game, the Chiefs managed to come out on top thanks to a controversial penalty against the Bengals in the fourth quarter.
Bengals defensive end Joseph Ossai was called for a roughing the passer penalty that extended a Chiefs drive and eventually led to a game-winning touchdown. After the game, Ossai lamented the penalty, saying, “That was a tough call. It was a big momentum change in the game.”
The Chiefs’ win was due in large part to their ability to take advantage of their home-field advantage at Arrowhead Stadium. The team was able to “show it’s Arrowhead, not Burrowhead,” and ultimately came out on top.
The game also featured a strange do-over situation in the fourth quarter. Referee Ron Torbert explained the situation, saying, “We had a situation where the Bengals were trying to call a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty. We gave them the timeout, but then there was a false start penalty. So, we had to go back and enforce the delay of game penalty.”
The game was not without its share of trash talk. After the game, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce called Cincinnati mayor John Cranley a “jabroni” in response to some trash talk from the mayor earlier in the week.
Overall, it was a wild and exciting game that saw the Chiefs come out on top and advance to the Super Bowl.
