CHOCOLATE RECALL: FDA Issues Urgent Warning After Finding "Psychedelic Drug" in Diamond Shruumz Bars

Los Angeles, CA – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued a recall for all Diamond Shruumz-brand products due to potential health risks associated with their consumption. This action comes after reports of dozens of illnesses linked to the company’s “microdosing” sweets that allegedly contain harmful substances. Prophet Premium Blends, a distributor of Diamond Shruumz products, initiated the recall after concerns were raised.

According to the FDA, chemical tests conducted on two Diamond Shruumz products revealed the presence of muscimol, a chemical found in certain mushrooms, and O-acetylpsilocin, a psychoactive drug. These substances were found in the company’s Dark Chocolate Bar and Birthday Cake Chocolate Bar, prompting the urgent recall. In addition, the Dark Chocolate Bar was found to contain desmethoxyyangonin, dihydrokavain, and kavain.

The FDA’s investigation is ongoing, with medical officers from both the FDA and CDC working to assess the potential health risks associated with ingesting these chemical substances. At least 39 illnesses have been reported in connection with Diamond Shruumz products, leading to 23 hospitalizations. Symptoms range from seizures to nausea, with individuals experiencing various severe reactions.

Diamond Shruumz’s website claims that their “microdosing” products are not intended to be psychedelic, stating that they do not contain psilocybin or other scheduled drugs. Despite this, the presence of harmful substances in the products has raised significant concerns among consumers and health officials. The company emphasizes the safety and enjoyable experience of their treats, reassuring customers about the absence of psychedelic substances.

The recall serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance when it comes to food and drug safety. Consumers are urged to pay attention to product recalls and alerts issued by regulatory agencies like the FDA to protect their health and well-being. The incident highlights the potential risks associated with consuming products that may contain undisclosed or harmful ingredients, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability in the food and beverage industry.

As investigations into the Diamond Shruumz products continue, authorities are working to determine the full extent of the health risks and ensure appropriate measures are taken to safeguard public health. The recall serves as a cautionary tale about the potential dangers of consuming products with undisclosed ingredients or psychoactive substances, prompting a closer look at food safety regulations and enforcement efforts.
