College student brutally murdered and dismembered by poultry farm workers in Bangladesh

Chittagong, Bangladesh – A 20-year-old college student named Shibli Sadiq Hriday was brutally murdered and his body was dismembered after a longstanding feud with workers of a poultry farm, according to authorities. The tragic incident came to light on September 11 in the Raozan area of Chittagong, when Hriday’s remains were found.

Hriday, who was also the manager of the poultry farm, had been abducted 13 days prior to the discovery of his body. His abduction was a result of his public protest against the dishonest practices of the poultry farm workers, who were selling inadequate chicken feed. This had led to multiple disputes between Hriday and the workers.

Seeking revenge, the workers formulated a plan to teach Hriday a lesson. They abducted him from the farm and took him to a hill near the border. There, they brutally slit his throat and covered his body with banana tree leaves. To prevent identification, they used a knife to separate his flesh from his body.

Uchingthowai Marma and Kyasai Ong Chowdhury, two individuals directly involved in the gruesome murder, were apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday. Uchingthowai was arrested in the Patenga area, while Kyasai was arrested in the Notun Bridge area based on information from Uchingthowai.

Hriday, in addition to his studies, worked at the poultry farm in Kodolpur. He was abducted on the night of August 28, and two days later, the kidnappers contacted his family, demanding a ransom. Despite the family agreeing to pay Tk2 lakh, the abductors did not release Hriday, prompting the family to file a complaint at the Raozan police station.

Further details about the horrifying incident shed light on the desperate situation Hriday faced. Umong Ching, one of the five poultry farm employees involved in the brutal beating, took the drastic decision to end Hriday’s life after holding him captive for a day. Uchingthowai Marma was assigned the gruesome task of beheading Hriday on August 29.

The authorities revealed that, apart from the five farm employees, another criminal gang led by Uchingthowai was involved in the abduction, murder, and disposal of the body. In a chilling revelation, it was disclosed that the remaining gang members dismembered Hriday’s body and scattered the remains throughout the jungle.

Even more disturbingly, the five farm employees returned to work at the farm as if nothing had happened, while Hriday’s father visited the farm in search of his missing son. The investigation also revealed that out of the Tk2 lakh ransom, Tk1.5 lakh went to Uchingthowai, with the remaining Tk50,000 divided among the other perpetrators.

The tragic murder of Shibli Sadiq Hriday after a feud with poultry farm workers has shocked the community. The authorities have made arrests in connection with the crime, shedding light on the alarming brutality and disregard for human life displayed by the perpetrators. The investigation continues to uncover more details about this horrifying incident.
