Washington, D.C. — Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, highlighting the Trump administration’s impact on crime reduction across the nation. She described the recent trends in crime statistics as significant achievements in making America a safer place.
In her remarks, Bondi pointed to 2025 as a historic year, citing it as having the lowest murder rate in 125 years. “While our work is never finished, we have made remarkable strides,” she stated, emphasizing that the murder rate decreased by 21 percent from the previous year. Other notable reductions included a 23 percent drop in robbery, a 43 percent decline in carjackings, and a 22 percent decrease in gun assaults.
Bondi attributed these improvements to the resources and leadership provided by President Trump, asserting that these policies have played a crucial role in protecting American citizens. “Crime is in decline, and this has not occurred by mere chance. The numbers tell a straightforward story,” she said, underlining the administration’s commitment to enhancing public safety.
The Attorney General spotlighted the successes in specific cities, namely Washington, D.C., and Memphis, where the National Guard was deployed under Trump’s orders. She noted the longstanding challenges both cities faced with violent crime. “The Justice Department responded by increasing law enforcement resources, and the effects were evident,” Bondi remarked.
Following her assertions, she highlighted that the collaboration with Democratic mayors in these locales was instrumental in achieving positive outcomes, reinforcing that public safety transcends party lines. “We reached these successes by working together, regardless of party affiliation,” she asserted.
Bondi concluded her address by reiterating the importance of continued collaboration in the struggle for enhanced public safety across the nation, stressing that collective efforts are essential in maintaining the progress made thus far.
