Dashcam shows men in Florida garbage truck fleeing gunman after fight at Wawa

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL – A routine Friday morning turned violent in Zephyrhills when an argument at a gas station escalated into a high-speed chase and shooting, resulting in attempted murder charges for a 46-year-old man.

Authorities said Quinson Croson was arrested after he allegedly pursued two men in his SUV and fired repeatedly at their garbage truck, striking one in the arm. Croson is facing two counts of attempted homicide and another charge related to illegal weapon possession.

The incident began at a Wawa gas station, where Brandon Raymon Lee, accompanied by a co-worker, encountered Croson. According to police, Lee recognized Croson, a local bar owner, and greeted him. However, Lee reportedly noticed Croson smelled of alcohol and suggested he return home, sparking an argument between the two men.

Accounts from witnesses and police suggest Lee’s “friendly” advice was taken as an insult by Croson. The disagreement intensified, with Lee’s co-worker later telling officers that Lee inadvertently provoked Croson by calling him “silly.”

After the exchange, authorities said Croson got into his SUV and began trailing Lee and his coworker, who had gotten into their garbage truck to begin their workday. As they drove off, Croson allegedly followed in his vehicle, escalating the situation.

Investigators reviewed dashcam footage that captured the tense pursuit through Zephyrhills. During the chase, Croson is accused of grabbing a handgun from his car and firing multiple rounds at the garbage truck. Lee was struck in the right arm, but authorities described his injury as non-life-threatening.

The chase concluded when Croson’s SUV collided with the garbage truck. The crash ejected Lee’s coworker, J’Nyith Reyes, from the passenger seat of the truck. Reyes was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Following the collision, Croson reportedly fled the scene in his damaged SUV. Police later located him and took him into custody without further incident.

Croson remains at the Pasco County Detention Center without bond. His previous criminal record includes convictions linked to gang activity and firearm possession. Authorities have not released details about his next court appearance.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the altercation and subsequent chase, urging witnesses or anyone with additional footage to come forward as the case develops. Neither Lee nor Reyes faces charges related to the incident.
