Deadly Shooting Outside Huffman Church: One Person Killed in Northeast Harris County

HUFFMAN, Texas (AP) – An investigation is underway following a fatal shooting outside a Methodist church in northeast Harris County on Sunday morning. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place in the church parking lot, resulting in one fatality.

The incident began when a suspicious man, whose mother had previous ties to the church, allegedly made threatening remarks to a member before referring to the pastor. Deputies were called to the scene to search for the suspicious man, who had fled before their arrival.

Subsequently, a church member who works for Texas EquuSearch was alerted to the situation and went to the parking lot. There, the suspicious man allegedly ran towards him, leading the church member to fire two shots using a long gun. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later revealed that the deceased individual had been arrested the day prior for criminal mischief, and psychotropic medications were found in his truck at the scene. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported among the approximately 50 to 70 people who were inside the church at the time of the shooting.
