New Delhi, India – A former executive has been sentenced to death for the fatal poisoning of the founder of a prominent Chinese gaming company. Xu Yao was convicted of targeting Yoozoo Game founder Lin Qi in a sinister plot that resulted in Lin’s untimely demise at the age of 39. The poisoning incident occurred in December 2020 during a business-related dispute between the two individuals.

The Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court revealed that Xu Yao not only poisoned Lin Qi but also tainted office beverages, leaving four colleagues seriously ill between September and December 2020. The motive behind these actions was attributed to personal conflicts.

Yoozoo Games, headquartered in Shanghai, announced Lin’s death through a statement released by his family, although specific details were not disclosed. The company paid tribute to Lin’s legacy by emphasizing their commitment to kindness and beauty, echoing sentiments from “The Three-Body Problem,” a science fiction series that the company was involved with under Lin’s leadership.

Lin Qi held the position of executive producer on the English-language Netflix series adaptation of “The Three-Body Problem,” led by creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, known for their work on “Game of Thrones.” The series explores the story of modern-day scientists preparing for an impending alien invasion, featuring an ensemble cast including Eiza Gonzalez and Benedict Wong, with Brad Pitt and Rosamund Pike serving as executive producers.

Aside from their involvement in film projects, Yoozoo Games is also recognized for developing “Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming,” a popular game inspired by the beloved television series. The tragic event involving Lin Qi serves as a somber reminder of the complexities and conflicts that can arise within the realm of entertainment and gaming industries.
