Delphi Murders: Defense Lawyers Demand Timely Disclosure of Evidence Ahead of Richard Allen’s Trial

DELPHI, Ind. – Attorneys representing the man accused of murdering two teenage girls in Delphi over six years ago are requesting timely access to the state’s evidence against their client. Richard Allen’s lawyers filed a motion seeking a November 1 deadline for prosecutors to provide all evidence to the defense. The defense team argues that the overwhelming amount of discovery presented by the prosecutor in the past three weeks necessitates this deadline for adequate trial preparation.

In their motion, Allen’s attorneys also claim that recently provided information from the state, including interviews, a letter, and search warrants, supports an alternative theory. They suggest that Abby Williams and Libby German may have been killed not by Allen, but by other individuals as part of an Odinistic ritualistic sacrifice.

The prosecutor, however, dismissed this theory a week ago, deeming it non-credible, colorful, dramatic, and unprofessional. Allen was arrested in October of last year and charged with the February 2017 murders of Abby and Libby. The high-profile case gained nationwide attention when the girls’ bodies were discovered near the Delphi Monon High Bridge a day after they went missing.

Allen’s trial is scheduled to commence on January 8, 2024.
