Doctor hacked to death with machete by husband who was caught covered in blood on camera

MARIETTA, GA – In a gruesome act of violence, a man from Indiana is accused of savagely murdering his former spouse in her Georgia residence. Police discovered evidence in the form of a blood-stained machete, incriminating fingerprints, and surveillance footage, which points squarely at the suspect’s involvement in this heinous crime.

Mickey Anthony Woolery, 49, stands charged with multiple felonies, including murder, assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, following the death of his ex-wife, 42-year-old Samantha Woolery.

The discovery of the crime scene transpired after the victim’s colleagues, alarmed by her failure to report to work, visited her apartment in Marietta on June 16. They found the door ajar. Inside, they encountered a horrific scene: Samantha’s lifeless body, marred by numerous cuts, lay on the floor, leading her friends to urgently summon the authorities.

Officials pronounced her dead at the scene. “It was a brutal attack,” stated a law enforcement officer. “There was no opportunity for medical intervention.”

The search for Mickey Woolery concluded on Monday when police located and apprehended him in Carmel, Indiana. He engaged in a brief foot chase before being detained in a wooded area.

Upon investigating the crime scene, law enforcement identified a crucial piece of evidence – a bloody thumbprint that tied the suspect to the crime. Additionally, video surveillance footage from a Ring camera located opposite the victim’s apartment reportedly captured images of Woolery with blood on his hands and clothing.

The brutal killing left family and friends reeling in shock and disbelief. “We’re in utter disbelief,” expressed the victim’s sister.

Samantha Woolery, recently recognized as the Intern of the Year at the Morehouse School of Medicine, was remembered fondly by her colleagues for her vibrant spirit and dedication to her patients. Her position as a Surgery Resident spoke volumes of her commitment to advancing health equity, with her loss marked by profound sadness within her professional community. She is survived by her teenage daughter, Naeema, who is heartbroken over the loss of her mother.

Woolery is expected to face a judge in court as he remains in custody at the Hamilton County Jail. His alleged acts present a stark reminder of the unforeseeable violence that can tragically cut short the lives of individuals, leaving behind a wake of grief and unanswered questions.
