DOJ Declines to Charge Rep. Matt Gaetz in Sex-Trafficking Inquiry

The U.S. Justice Department has decided not to charge Representative Matt Gaetz in the sex-trafficking inquiry, according to his lawyers.

The New York Times reported that the Justice Department declined to bring charges against Gaetz in the investigation into allegations he paid for sex with women who were trafficked.

CNN was first to report that the Justice Department officially decided not to charge Gaetz in the sex-trafficking probe.

According to CNBC, Gaetz’s lawyers said that the Justice Department informed them that Gaetz would not be criminally charged in the sex-trafficking probe.

POLITICO reported that former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley said hello to Gaetz on Twitter, saying, “Hey @mattgaetz, good to see you today. Keep fighting. #GaetzStrong.”

NBC News reported that the Justice Department had informed Gaetz and his lawyers that he would not be charged in the sex-trafficking investigation.

The Justice Department’s decision not to bring charges against Gaetz in the sex-trafficking inquiry is a major victory for the Florida congressman and his legal team.
