Drug-Fueled Tragedy: Teens Killed in St. Pete Murder-Suicide During Hangout

St. Petersburg, Florida – Tragic events unfolded in St. Petersburg over the weekend as authorities reported a double shooting involving two teenagers, resulting in a murder-suicide. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Grove Park Avenue North following a distress call regarding the incident. The victims, identified as a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were both shot on the premises.

The young girl was found deceased at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts to save the young boy’s life, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital shortly after the shooting. Details emerged that neither teen resided at the home where the incident occurred. The 17-year-old boy had been granted permission to stay at the house to care for the homeowner’s pet while they were away.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Saturday, the 17-year-old invited the victim and another female companion to join him at the property for a social gathering. An 18-year-old friend of his also joined them. Allegations surfaced that the group had been partaking in substances, including alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine, throughout the day. It was during this drug-fueled hangout that the situation took a deadly turn when the 17-year-old retrieved a gun belonging to the homeowner.

Reportedly, the teens engaged in reckless behavior, including playing with the firearm while taking photos. Tensions rose between the 17-year-old and the 14-year-old girl over a prior incident, leading to a heated argument. The altercation culminated in a tragic outcome as the 17-year-old fatally shot the young girl before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities announced plans for autopsies on both the victim and the suspect as they continue their investigation into the incident. At this time, no charges have been filed, and further arrests have not been made public. The community remains in shock over the heartbreaking events that unfolded over the weekend in St. Petersburg.
