PIERRE, S.D. – A Gregory man has been sentenced for a drunk driving death that occurred earlier this year, as announced by South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley on Friday. Alec Dostal, Sr., 56, received a 50-year prison sentence, with 20 years suspended, after pleading guilty but mentally ill to one count of first-degree manslaughter.

The incident that led to Dostal’s indictment took place on February 5, 2022, when he collided with a John Deere side-by-side in Burke, resulting in the death of one person.
