Dying 27-year-old Florida mother’s heartbreaking call to 911 after her 4-year-old daughter is shot on highway

HOLLYWOOD, FL – Two men are facing first-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting of a mother and her 4-year-old daughter on Florida’s Turnpike, an incident that left the community and investigators seeking answers.

Beatrice Saintvil, 28, and her daughter Janelle were driving on the turnpike on the night of June 7 when their vehicle came under fire near Hollywood Boulevard. Authorities say Antoine Harris, 28, and Jaquan Thomas, 29, were responsible for the attack, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. On Friday, both men were formally charged following an investigation that spanned several months.

Thomas, who is currently imprisoned in Georgia on unrelated charges, will be extradited to face the murder charges in Florida. Harris was apprehended on Friday in Miami Gardens and is also set for extradition.

A heart-wrenching 911 call from Saintvil revealed her desperate final moments, attempting to comfort her daughter as they sat on the road’s shoulder. Janelle was declared dead at the scene, while Saintvil succumbed to her injuries later at a hospital.

An eyewitness driving home that night, Anyley Cabrera, described the car as having been devastated by bullets, underscoring the brutality of the attack. “The car was destroyed,” Cabrera recalled.

The absence of a clear motive has compounded the grief and confusion surrounding the case. Broward County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Claudinne Caro emphasized the senselessness of the tragedy, highlighting the innocence of the victims. Authorities have not ruled out possible road rage, but the investigation is ongoing as detectives work to gather more evidence and understand the reasons behind the violent act.

The community and the victims’ family members have expressed a desperate need for answers. Saintvil’s sister, Kyanna Librun, voiced the family’s anguish and desire to understand why such a heinous crime was committed against a mother and her daughter known for their kindness and warmth.

While details about Harris and Thomas’s connection to the victims or the crime scene remain unclear, officials hope their forthcoming extradition and subsequent trial will unravel the mystery.

A reward had been set at $20,000 for information leading to an arrest, signaling the effort to involve the public in this ongoing investigation.

As the legal process unfolds, the community is left to mourn and remember the lives of Beatrice and Janelle, tragically cut short in an attack that shocked and saddened many.
