EAST LANSDOWNE, Pennsylvania – A vigil was held to honor the Le family, who tragically died after a shooting and fire broke out in East Lansdowne, Delaware County. The community gathered at Yeadon Community Park to pay tribute to Xuong Le, his wife Britni McLaughlin-Le, and their three children 10-year-old Xavier, 13-year-old NaKayla, and 17-year-old NaTalya. The family’s remains were found in the ashes of their home on Lewis Avenue in East Lansdowne.
The vigil saw an outpouring of love and support from the community, with pink and blue balloons released into the sky as a symbol of remembrance for the Le family. A memorial was also built outside their now-demolished home, adorned with flowers, toys, and candles bearing the family’s names.
As the community mourns the devastating loss, family members shared touching memories of their loved ones. Britni McLaughlin-Le’s father recalled the happiness she found in her 17 years of marriage, emphasizing the deep love and full lives they lived. The tragic loss of the Le family has left the community in disbelief, with Britni’s sister expressing the immense love they received from the community.
Authorities believe that Canh Le, Xuong Le’s brother, was responsible for the shooting. He allegedly shot and killed his family members, as well as two police officers, before setting the house ablaze. The two injured officers have been treated and released from the hospital.
As authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the tragic incident, loved ones are left grappling with the heartbreaking loss. NaKayla’s friends spoke of her vibrant life, with one friend expressing regret at not having the chance to say goodbye. The impact of the loss extends to the local community, with the owner of the dance studio where NaKayla danced expressing the studio’s commitment to honoring her memory throughout the competition season.
The incident began with a 911 call reporting a child being shot, followed by a fire breaking out in the home shortly after. The chaos and danger of the situation were evident as police officers were met with gunfire upon arrival, resulting in the injury of two officers.
