Baton Rouge, Louisiana — In a decisive victory during Saturday’s special election, Democrat Chasity Verret Martinez secured her position in the State House for District 60, outpacing Republican challenger Brad Daigle with a commanding 62% of the vote.

Martinez, currently serving on the Iberville Parish Council, garnered 5,159 votes out of a total of 8,328. The election results remain unofficial pending certification by the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office. Her win comes as a key moment in a district known for its political complexities.

The vacancy arose following the departure of former Representative Chad Brown, a Democrat who left his post to accept a role as commissioner for the Department of Alcohol and Tobacco Control under Governor Jeff Landry.
