PETOSKEY, Mich. – A Petoskey man has been sentenced to 2-10 years in state prison for embezzlement charges and evasion of a court appearance. Zachary Coonrod was scheduled for sentencing in the 53rd Circuit Court for embezzlement charges but failed to appear in court last month. Subsequently, he was arrested three days later and lodged at the Cheboygan County Jail.

On November 14, Coonrod was sentenced to a plea agreement for embezzling between $20,000 and $50,000 from two hotels in Mackinaw City from 2015 to 2019.
