Ex-boyfriend ambushes Texas woman and her mom and shoots them both in front of her small kids

FORT WORTH, TX – Authorities in Fort Worth say a man is in custody after allegedly invading his pregnant ex-girlfriend’s home and opening fire on her and her mother, an attack that unfolded as three young children looked on.

Police allege that Christopher Mike, 32, broke into the home through a back entrance on Nov. 19 and waited inside until his former partner, Sylvia Scott, returned with her mother, Allura Stewart. When Scott came in through the garage, investigators say Mike ambushed her, firing a shot that passed through her neck and face. Stewart was also shot moments later.

Both women survived the shooting, but the incident left lasting trauma, particularly for Scott’s children, who police say were present. While the children were not physically injured, family members say the violence has affected them emotionally, leading to recurring nightmares.

According to officials and court documents, Mike is the father of Scott’s unborn child. The pair had recently ended their relationship in November, and Scott told authorities she endured violence during their time together. Prior to the shooting, Scott said Mike had been living in her home, and she suspects he may have tracked her movements electronically through a device he left behind.

After being shot, Scott managed to crawl to her vehicle and contact emergency services. Emergency responders transported both women to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed Scott’s unborn baby was unharmed.

Investigators said that Scott’s swift call to 911 may have prevented further harm to the children, who were in the house when the shots rang out. Scott’s mother recounted fearing for the children’s safety as the gunman moved through the home.

Authorities arrested Mike, who now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation, and kidnapping. As of the weekend, he remained in custody without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 5, 2026.

Records reviewed by police indicate that there had been several troubling incidents prior to the November shooting, with friends and family expressing concern about escalating tensions between Mike and Scott in the days leading up to the attack.

The case draws renewed attention to the ongoing issue of domestic violence, particularly in situations involving children and expectant mothers. Advocates are urging those who feel threatened to reach out to local support services and law enforcement before situations escalate.

As the investigation continues, Scott and her family are focusing on recovery, both physically and emotionally, while awaiting the legal proceedings ahead.
