Ex-boyfriend attacks 19-year-old woman in middle of the night and shoots her along with her sister and parents

MOUNT JOY, PA – In a tragic turn of events, a 21-year-old man is accused of opening fire on a family in their Mount Joy apartment, leaving one dead and others injured. Ricky Shannon allegedly drove nearly two hours to the scene after being served with a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order following a turbulent relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela “Gabby” Morgan.

Authorities reported that Shannon was served with a PFA from Morgan on November 7, just two days after he had filed a similar order against her. Early Friday morning, Shannon allegedly arrived at the Millers’ home, escalating the situation into a deadly encounter.

The shooting took place around 4:15 a.m. when Shannon allegedly began firing inside the residence where Gabby, her mother Kimberly Day-Miller, her stepfather Brian Miller, and her younger sister Jennifer Day were present.

According to police and family members, Kim was critically injured and later died of her wounds at a nearby hospital. Her death was pronounced at 5:55 a.m.

Gabby endured numerous gunshot wounds and was reportedly abducted by Shannon, forcing her into his vehicle before law enforcement intervened. Meanwhile, Brian and Jennifer survived the harrowing attack but experienced significant physical and emotional trauma. Hospitalized after the incident, they were discharged on November 12 and have been navigating their path to recovery since.

Gabby had recently sought refuge in her family’s apartment, desperate to escape the cycle of domestic violence with Shannon. According to family representatives, the act bore the marks of premeditated violence, given Shannon’s travel time following the PFA issuance. “He had almost two hours to reconsider his actions,” the spokesperson said.

A GoFundMe page for the Day, Miller, and Morgan family has been set up to assist with funeral costs and support Brian and Jennifer’s recovery journey. The grieving family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, with all communication requested to go through their appointed spokesperson.

Shannon now faces serious charges as the community mourns the loss and rallies around the surviving family members. The shooting highlights the devastating consequences of domestic disputes and the urgent need for community resources to support those affected by such violence.
