Fantastic: Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Set to Shatter Box Office Expectations with Over $220M Opening!

Los Angeles, California – Marvel and Disney’s latest installment, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is projected to open globally with earnings between $220 million and $230 million, surpassing initial forecasts. As of Friday, the film directed by Matt Shakman had already grossed approximately $106.2 million worldwide.

In the domestic market, the film has tallied around $57 million through Friday, with expectations to reach a total of $120 million to $125 million by the end of the weekend. The international box office contributed an estimated $49.2 million, pushing the overall opening frame to potentially between $100 million and $105 million.

The film launched in various international markets on Wednesday, including Spain, China, and Japan. However, initial reports indicate that China may not respond as favorably as hoped, while local competitors dominate the Japanese and Korean markets.

Audiences in Latin America and Europe have shown a strong inclination for family-oriented films, which could positively impact ticket sales. The top five international markets by revenue thus far are Mexico, generating $6.2 million, followed by the United Kingdom at $5.7 million, France at $3.5 million, Brazil at $2.6 million, and Italy at $2.4 million.

Earlier in the week, during its overseas rollout, First Steps earned an estimated $27 million through Thursday, establishing strong openings across multiple regions. Early box office comparisons indicate that the film is performing significantly better than previous Marvel releases, running ahead of Captain America: Brave New World by 57% and outperforming Superman by 32%.

As momentum builds, Disney is poised to surpass $3 billion in global box office revenue for the year, with First Steps expected to be a key contributor. The film’s domestic previews are likely to bolster this milestone, making Disney the first studio to achieve this benchmark in 2025.

In terms of specific market performance, France had the third-highest opening day in 2025, while Italy also ranked high. The Netherlands and other regions have shown strong engagement, indicating a solid foundation for ticket sales going forward.

The film’s cast includes notable actors such as Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Julia Garner, contributing to its extensive appeal.

As the weekend progresses, industry experts remain optimistic about the film’s performance, and a full update on box office figures is anticipated. The success of The Fantastic Four: First Steps may set the stage for future Marvel releases, as audiences eagerly anticipate the next chapter in the beloved franchise.
