Fatal Shooting at Memorial Gathering in Harrisburg: Investigation Launched

Harrisburg, PA – A man was fatally shot on Thursday evening during a memorial gathering for a teenager who died in a car accident involving a Harrisburg police car. The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. near South 19th and Holly streets, where approximately 20 people had gathered to mourn the loss of Marion Holmes, 18. The identity and age of the victim remain unknown.

According to sources close to the investigation, initial reports suggest that the shooter, described as a masked individual on foot, fired towards the group at the memorial. Multiple gunshots were heard by neighbors, who later discovered the victim lying on the ground. Despite efforts made by emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

The memorial gathering was held to honor the life of Holmes, who tragically passed away early Tuesday after a collision with a police car en route to an emergency call.

Homicide detectives are currently investigating the incident and have not yet made any arrests. This marks the 10th homicide in Harrisburg this year, compared to 17 at the same time last year.
