Los Angeles, California – Steven Anthony Lawrence, known for his role as Bernard “Beans” Aranguren on the Disney series “Even Stevens,” has made alarming allegations regarding his dismissal from Universal Studios. The actor claims he was let go as retaliation for reporting a suspected pedophile.
In a recent Instagram post, Lawrence shared his experience and a photo of his Universal ID alongside a large Toad costume. He revealed that he refrained from making his claims public for some time, hoping to reach a resolution with the studio. However, he decided to speak out after he believed he had no choice following his termination.
Lawrence alleges that after he reported concerns about an individual in the workplace he suspected of inappropriate behavior around children, he faced backlash from his supervisor and a human resources representative. He stated that this retaliation ultimately led to his departure from the company, a claim that he has described as painful but necessary to uphold his conscience.
The former child star expressed his conflict of emotions over leaving a job he enjoyed, emphasizing that his decision was driven by the belief that he could not continue working in an environment where he felt children might be at risk. He boldly declared in his post that he would “never allow [his] kid to go to Universal Studios Hollywood” due to the alleged dangers posed by the individual in question.
In the wake of Lawrence’s announcement, he received an outpouring of support from social media users, including his former co-star, Christy Carlson Romano, who commended his bravery. Despite the public support, it’s important to note that Lawrence has yet to provide any physical evidence to substantiate his claims.
As of now, efforts to reach Lawrence for further comments, as well as inquiries to Universal Studios regarding the situation, have gone unanswered. The incident has sparked discussions about workplace safety, particularly concerning the protection of children in entertainment environments.
This unfolding situation highlights the complexities surrounding accusations of misconduct and their implications for both individuals and organizations, emphasizing the need for transparent responses to such serious allegations.
