Flight attendant thrown from Texas bridge by roommate after he strangled her at their house

FORT WORTH, TX – A Fort Worth man is facing murder charges following the disappearance and presumed death of his roommate, whose body he allegedly admitted to killing and disposing of off a bridge, police said.

Dennis William Day, 66, was arrested this week after months of searching for 47-year-old Rana Nofal Soluri, who was last seen in March. Soluri, a flight attendant, was initially reported missing earlier in June when a concerned coworker flagged her sudden and unusual absence to police.

Authorities say the chain of events began after Soluri left work in early March, telling colleagues she needed time off for minor surgery. She was expected to return by the end of that month, but never did. A coworker recalled their last conversation on March 19 ended unexpectedly, which raised suspicions and led to the missing person’s report.

Investigators quickly focused on Day, who had lived with Soluri for about a year. They learned of a video dated March 19 that showed Soluri with her handgun visible and a man’s voice yelling offscreen. The coworker provided the video to police, intensifying their concerns.

According to the arrest affidavit, Soluri’s travel records revealed she had not flown since October, despite her job as a flight attendant. Missing work without notice was said to be out of character for her. Police later located Soluri’s recently purchased car abandoned at Day’s residence. Day told police the vehicle had sat unused for two months, roughly the same period he claimed not to have seen her. He also moved her personal belongings to storage and appeared unconcerned about her whereabouts.

A welfare check on June 10 prompted Day to call Soluri a “longtime friend,” asserting he had not seen or talked to her in three months. The investigation revealed that Soluri’s phone was last active on March 21 east of her home, and her final call was logged at 3:43 p.m. that day.

Authorities obtained surveillance footage from Day’s property, which, according to police, showed a man dragging what looked like a lifeless body into the backyard late on March 21. Recordings ceased for several days afterward.

Confronted with the evidence on June 23, Day allegedly confessed to strangling Soluri after an argument that began when she threatened to contact law enforcement. He told investigators he choked her on the kitchen floor, dragged her body outside, and then deactivated the security system.

Day also told police he placed Soluri’s body in a black trash bin before disposing of her remains over a bridge in Bowie, a town northwest of Fort Worth. He admitted to discarding her phone in a nearby river and showed authorities where to recover her handgun.

Despite extensive searches with Day’s guidance around the Bowie area, Soluri’s remains have not yet been located.

Day is being held at Tarrant County Jail on $200,000 bond as the investigation continues.
