PENSACOLA, FL — A Florida couple in their sixties met a tragic end in what authorities are calling a “horrific scene” within their own home. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office announced they found two individuals deceased, suspected to have died from blunt force trauma. The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon, with the suspect now in custody being the couple’s own grandson.

The victims, who were residing on Greenbrier Boulevard, were noticed missing by concerned family members who hadn’t heard from them for several days. A welfare check led to the grisly discovery of the bodies in separate rooms. The 24-year-old grandson, Jordon King, who had been living with the victims, was flagged as a person of interest early on in the case and was captured in the Bellview community after a tip-off from the public.

Officials assert that King was apprehended on foot without any confrontation and was taken in for questioning at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently detained at the Escambia County Jail and has been denied bond. A court directive has prohibited any communication between King and the victims’ other family members.

The community, including neighbors like Charlene Daughtry, is shaken by the event. Despite knowing the victims only superficially, Daughtry described them as “good people,” expressing her shock and sadness over the loss.

This is not King’s first encounter with the criminal justice system. He was recently released from jail on probation for a trespassing incident in December. Further examining King’s legal history, it is revealed that he was released from a five-year prison term in November 2023. His past convictions include burglary and grand theft, involving an incident where he broke into a residence and committed armed robbery shortly after the burglary.

As the investigation continues, authorities are conducting thorough interviews and gathering information from the neighborhood to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
