Florida father puts 8-month-old baby in middle of intersection and runs over him after fight with his mother

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A man was arrested after allegedly running over and killing his 8-month-old child at a Florida intersection, igniting a community’s call for justice. The suspect, Justin Golden, 20, is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide, according to local authorities.

The incident unfolded late Saturday morning near the junction of Lenox and McDuff avenues.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and distressing as passersby struggled to comprehend the unfolding tragedy. According to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office report, the father is accused of placing the infant in the intersection before striking the child with his vehicle following a dispute with his girlfriend.

Emergency responders quickly arrived on site, transporting the critically injured infant to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, further devastating the witnesses and community.

Markin Barnes, who runs a barbershop near the intersection, recounted the horrific moments after hearing a woman’s cries. “We rushed out to help,” Barnes said, visibly shaken by the events. “As a parent, seeing this is unimaginable.”

The police have yet to disclose whether the act was intentional or accidental, as details remain under investigation. Until more information from the affidavit is released, community members are left with lingering questions about the tragic course of events.

Video footage from the scene shows the intersection as a typically busy thoroughfare, heightening questions about the father’s actions that led to the child’s death. Authorities, in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office, have pledged to pursue all avenues to ensure justice is served.

Currently held without bond at Duval County Jail, Golden’s legal representation remains unclear.

As investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death, the community stands united in grief, holding onto hope for answers and accountability.
