Florida man guns down both of his grandparents in Brevard County bloodbath

WEST MELBOURNE, FL – A 22-year-old man faces multiple charges after authorities allege he fatally shot his grandparents and wounded a neighbor’s granddaughter during a violent incident that shook a residential neighborhood Wednesday evening.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremyah Campbell is accused of killing his grandparents, George White, 83, and Mary White, 81, inside their West Melbourne home around 8 p.m. Investigators report that Campbell first targeted his grandmother, shooting her several times with a handgun inside the couple’s residence.

After the initial gunfire, officials say George White fled across the street to a neighbor’s house to seek help, telling the residents that his wife had been shot. As White pleaded for assistance at the neighbor’s home, more shots were fired, striking both George and a 25-year-old woman who was inside the residence.

Authorities say the woman, identified as the granddaughter of neighbor Terry French, sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital, and she is expected to recover, according to statements from police.

The fatal violence, which erupted in the otherwise quiet neighborhood, sent residents into a panic as shots rang out. Neighbors recounted hearing several rounds of gunfire followed by screams, prompting many to remain inside their homes out of fear for their own safety.

Responding deputies quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the shootings. Campbell was located and arrested without incident. He now faces two counts of second-degree murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder, and a charge of shooting into an occupied residence. Campbell was booked into the Brevard County Jail, with authorities stating he was awaiting his first court appearance on Friday.

Neighbors described the Whites as kind and generous, noting their presence in the community for decades. Many expressed shock and sorrow at the sudden loss, recalling the couple’s friendly nature and willingness to help others.

Law enforcement officials in Brevard County have not yet determined a motive for the shootings. Investigators continued to process evidence for the White case and interview witnesses Thursday in an effort to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the double homicide.

The events have left the neighborhood reeling, with residents struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. Many said they never expected such violence to erupt so close to home.

Authorities ask anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues. No further details about what may have led to the violence have been released.
