Florida man makes up story about drug dealer after he shoots his father-in-law to death

INVERNESS, FL – A Florida man has been charged with the murder of his father-in-law following a perplexing sequence of events that originated with a chilling discovery. Authorities arrested 43-year-old David Nemyier, accusing him of fatally shooting 67-year-old Kyle Pazian, after initially reporting that he had found Pazian dead in his home.

The Citrus County investigation began on April 9, when Pazian’s daughter reportedly argued with him, setting off a chain of events that would later unravel into a homicide case. On April 11, Nemyier and his wife visited Pazian’s residence after being unable to contact him, only to find him deceased in the living room, according to details from an arrest affidavit.

At the time, law enforcement noticed inconsistencies in the couple’s accounts. Nemyier mentioned an alleged conflict between Pazian and a local drug dealer, adding complexity to the case. Meanwhile, his wife recalled a dispute with her husband, claiming she woke up with unexplained injuries.

Further investigation unearthed suspicious behavior by Nemyier. Surveillance footage from the restaurant where he was employed showed him in the parking lot changing his shirt on April 9. An employee also found a bullet in the vicinity shortly after, raising more questions about Nemyier’s actions.

Nemyier’s narrative began to crumble after an autopsy determined Pazian had died from a gunshot wound two days prior to being “found,” aligning his date of death with April 9. This finding was critical in discrediting Nemyier’s initial timeline.

As suspicions grew, Nemyier’s wife reached out to authorities on April 13 in a distressed state, accompanied by her young son. Both expressed an eagerness to reveal the events of April 9 more truthfully. The affidavit indicated that on that morning, Nemyier’s wife admitted to heavy drinking and an argument with Pazian but did not initially disclose her husband’s violent reaction.

She eventually confessed that Nemyier, angered by her injuries, had gone inside the house to confront Pazian, later admitting to her that he had killed him. Her account detailed a backdrop of domestic unrest and substance abuse, painting a grim picture of the events leading up to the murder.

After the revelations, authorities located Nemyier and arrested him on murder charges. A grand jury officially indicted him for premeditated first-degree murder. He remains in custody without bail, awaiting court proceedings.
