MERRITT ISLAND, FL – A man named Edward Cocaine, whose unusual name caught the attention of many, found himself in legal trouble after allegedly brandishing a knife in a Florida Subway restaurant.

The incident occurred on April 5 on Merritt Island, with Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey sharing details via social media.

According to law enforcement, Cocaine, 45, visited the restaurant with a friend, and tensions escalated when he reportedly felt disrespected by the staff. While his companion recommended leaving the premises, Cocaine reportedly chose another course of action.

Witnesses allege that Cocaine pushed his way into the employee area behind the counter, where he then brandished a knife in a threatening manner. His actions prompted alarm among the staff, although his friend managed to intervene, preventing further escalation, before the duo exited the establishment.

Sheriff Ivey’s Facebook account included remarks on the incident, highlighting the choices Cocaine made that led to his arrest. In his post, Ivey emphasized the seriousness of the situation, expressing disbelief at the suspect’s behavior.

Authorities utilized surveillance footage to track down Cocaine’s associate’s vehicle and subsequently identified Cocaine as the suspect. Upon confrontation, Cocaine reportedly admitted involvement in the incident, acknowledging that his actions were inappropriate.

Cocaine faces charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, as well as burglary with assault and battery. Following his arrest, he posted a $17,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 6.
