Western nations are divided on how to respond to the growing crisis in Ukraine as Russia claims to have made gains.
On Wednesday, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that sending fighter jets to Ukraine is not the right solution. Maas said that the conflict needs to be resolved diplomatically.
However, France has not ruled out the possibility of sending warplanes to Ukraine. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the situation in Ukraine needs to be monitored closely.
Meanwhile, a top adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that he is counting on positive results soon when it comes to providing fighter jets for Ukraine.
France has said that it is considering training Ukrainian fighter jet pilots.
The situation in Ukraine has been escalating since the beginning of 2021, with Russia claiming several territorial gains. Western nations have been pushing for a diplomatic solution to the conflict, but have yet to reach an agreement.
