Gang Members Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Terms for Murders and Attempted Murder

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Three members of the Norteño gang in the Mission District were sentenced to prison for their involvement in the murder and attempted murder of four victims. These convictions were on charges of racketeering conspiracy, announced by the First Assistant United States Attorney Patrick D. Robbins and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Robert K. Tripp.

Fernando “Nando” Madrigal, Alvaro “G-Boy” Reina Cordero, and Oscar “Cutty” Guadron Diaz, all pleaded guilty in February 2023 to racketeering conspiracy in connection with the crimes. This included the murders and attempted murder of four victims, one of whom was a 15-year-old innocent bystander mistaken for a rival gang member.

The gang members were sentenced to 33, 26, and 21 years in prison. Additional penalties include five years of supervised release after completing their prison terms. Madrigal’s involvement in the murders and attempted murders involved luring a victim on false pretenses and using firearms to commit the crimes, while also engaging in drug trafficking.

Addressing the terror that the Norteño gang has caused in the Mission District, First Assistant United States Attorney Patrick D. Robbins stated, “Today’s sentences send a clear message that gang members who inflict wanton violence and harm our community will be arrested, prosecuted federally, and sentenced to lengthy prison terms.”

These sentences are a result of law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat gang violence in the Mission District, aiming to bring justice to the victims and their families.
