Manchester, N.H. — Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, sustained significant injuries in a car accident on Saturday night while assisting a woman in distress. The incident unfolded as Giuliani, 81, intervened during a domestic violence situation, ultimately leading to a collision that has left him hospitalized.

According to reports from New Hampshire State Police, Giuliani was flagged down by a woman fleeing an altercation. After calling 911 and waiting for the authorities, he resumed his travel on Interstate 93. Shortly thereafter, Giuliani’s rental vehicle, a Ford Bronco, was struck from behind at a high speed by a Honda HR-V. Police indicated that the crash occurred just before 10 p.m., while they were already on the scene managing the previous domestic incident.

The violent impact drove both vehicles into the median, resulting in extensive damage, as noted by the responding officers. Fire personnel and state troopers witnessed the crash from the southbound side of the highway. Following the incident, Giuliani was transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment.

His spokesperson, Michael Ragusa, assured that Giuliani remains in “good spirits” and is recovering well. He reported that the former mayor is conscious, alert, and expected to be released within a few days, ready to return to his usual activities. Ragusa emphasized that Giuliani’s injuries include a fractured thoracic vertebrae, as well as multiple lacerations and contusions, particularly affecting his left arm and lower leg.

No charges related to the accident have yet been filed as the police continue their investigation. Ragusa addressed concerns circulating about the nature of the accident, stating, “This was not a targeted attack.” He urged the public to respect Giuliani’s privacy during his recovery and called for the cessation of speculation regarding the incident.

As the situation develops, Giuliani’s business partner and medical adviser have reportedly been in touch with hospital staff to oversee his care. The former mayor’s condition indicates he is not only physically resilient but also mentally prepared to resume his responsibilities shortly after this unexpected event.
