Gunman caught on livestream as he shoots at pastor during Sunday service

NORTH BRADDOCK, PA – In a shocking series of events, a gunman’s apparent attempt to shoot a pastor during a church service was foiled due to a gun malfunction, followed by a disturbing discovery at the gunman’s residence later in the day. The unsettling incidents began at Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church, where the services were being live-streamed.

Pastor Glenn Germany was preaching when he noticed a man brandishing a firearm aiming at him. Fortunately, the gun jammed, sparing Germany’s life. According to Germany, the man had been behaving suspiciously throughout the service, making eye contact before suddenly pulling out the gun. As Germany sought cover, parishioners bravely intervened, with one individual risking his life to disarm the assailant. Identified as Bernard Polite, the 26-year-old suspect from Braddock has been charged with attempted homicide and other related charges.

The day took a grim turn when authorities found a deceased male victim at Polite’s home on Stokes Avenue. The deceased, Derek Polite, 56, was identified as a relative of the suspect. Residents in the area were taken aback by the news, expressing their disbelief and recalling both Bernard and Derek Polite as amicable neighbors.

The Allegheny County police are actively investigating the homicide, while no charges related to the body discovered have been announced yet.

This story continues to develop as more details emerge about the motivations behind the attempted shooting and the relationship between the two Polite family members. Authorities have scheduled a preliminary hearing for Bernard Polite, who is currently held in Allegheny County Jail.
