PARAGOULD, AR – A local high school science teacher faces a domestic battery charge after an early morning dispute reportedly turned violent at a Paragould residence.

Authorities responded to a call at approximately 4:30 a.m. Monday, where they found Stephanie Woods, 43, and her 37-year-old boyfriend. Police say the couple had been arguing, with tensions escalating over discussions related to Woods’ alleged conversations about other men.

According to police accounts, the disagreement intensified when Woods allegedly grabbed an earring and used it to stab her boyfriend in the neck, specifically below his right ear. Officers noted that the stud of the earring broke off during the incident and became lodged in the man’s skin.

Despite the injury, the boyfriend declined medical treatment at the scene. He explained to officers that the argument had erupted when Woods began discussing other men, further fueling the situation.

Woods gave a different account of the altercation, telling officers she was attempting to put the earring in the boyfriend’s mouth during the conflict. Authorities, however, determined there was probable cause to arrest her on suspicion of domestic battery.

Woods was taken into custody and later transported to the Greene County Detention Center, where she was booked on the battery charge. Jail records indicate she was released later that day after posting a $5,000 bond.

Records identify Woods as a science educator at Greene County Tech High School, located in Paragould. It remains unclear if the school district has taken any disciplinary action related to the arrest.

Police have not released further information regarding the ongoing investigation or whether additional charges may be filed.

The alleged victim’s name has not been made public, and no further injuries were reported. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the domestic incident.
