DORAL, FL — A residential burglary in Doral escalated to a murder investigation on Tuesday when police found a man in his 40s deceased inside a car, Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed. The incident, which began as a home invasion in the northwestern part of the city, took a grim turn when a vehicle linked to the property was located in an industrial area, several miles away.
Officers from the Midwest District were called to assist Doral Police after concerned family members reported they had lost contact with their relative. A friend of the deceased told authorities that the family had managed to track the man’s phone to a place near some train tracks using a locator app. Upon their arrival, they found him dead in the car, with his hands bound and a shirt obscuring his face.
Detective Andre Martin stated while briefing the media, “The method of death is currently undetermined. We are awaiting further details from the medical examiner on how the man died.” Police are investigating whether the home invasion in Doral is directly related to the discovery of the man’s body.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police surveyed multiple sites, including a La Quinta hotel on Northwest 42nd Avenue, though the specifics of the connection were not disclosed. “There are a lot of moving pieces to this investigation and various locations are being looked at as possibly being involved before our victim came to his final resting place,” said Martin.
The local community is in a state of alarm as the situation unfolds, with much of the incident details yet to surface. The authorities have not commented on whether any suspects are in custody or on the loose, further contributing to the residents’ concerns. This incident has imparted a renewed urgency for public safety and crime prevention strategies in the neighborhood.
As the investigation continues to unravel the sequence of events that led to this violent outcome, Miami-Dade Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. The case remains active, with detectives gathering evidence and seeking to determine the nature of the link between the home invasion and the tragic end discovered in the parked car.
