SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A mother in Indiana has been charged with child neglect after an ill-fated game led to her 8-year-old daughter suffering severe injuries.
Jasmine White, 27, is facing serious legal repercussions after a game she allegedly played with her children resulted in her daughter fracturing her skull and sustaining multiple injuries. According to court documents, White would pretend to drive away and leave her children behind, aiming to create a race to the car, where she would then lock the doors.
The incident occurred on August 29 when White’s daughter got her foot caught under the rear tire of the moving vehicle. The little girl was pulled to the ground, suffering a fractured skull, orbital fractures, numerous bruises, and a facial cut deep enough to expose bone. She also lost five teeth.
The critically injured child spent several days hospitalized, during which she was intubated and received IV sedation. Thankfully, she has since been discharged, authorities said.
A sibling recounted the events to law enforcement, describing how White had been driving faster than usual during the game. Video footage purportedly shows the child holding onto the passenger door handle while White accelerated to speeds of 15 to 20 mph.
White, charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and creating a dangerous situation, is set to appear in court on Monday.
Her children have given statements about the so-called game, providing key insights that helped to shape the charges against her. The footage and testimonies underscore the grave risk involved in White’s actions.
