Indicted: Oregon Man Charged in Deaths of Three Women Under Mysterious Circumstances

Portland, Oregon – Authorities in Oregon have indicted Jesse Lee Calhoun, 39, in connection with the deaths of three women who died under mysterious circumstances. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced that Calhoun is facing murder charges in the deaths of Charity Lynn Perry, 24; Bridget Leanne Webster, 31; and Joanna Speaks, 32. The indictment comes after a long investigation that has left many in the area frustrated, as families seek justice for their lost loved ones.

The women were part of a group of five individuals who were found deceased in 2023, all within a 100-mile radius of Portland and all under the age of 35, sparking concerns of a potential serial killer. Initially, authorities stated that the deaths were unrelated, but later acknowledged that there may be connections between some of the cases.

In addition to the three women mentioned earlier, Calhoun was also considered a person of interest in the deaths of Kristin Smith, 22, and Ashley Real, 22. However, he has not been charged in connection with those killings at this time. The investigation into a sixth woman found deceased is not currently being treated as a homicide.

The families of the victims are standing together in solidarity, seeking justice for all those affected by these tragedies. Melissa Smith, Kristin Smith’s mother, expressed hope that additional information may lead to further charges being filed in the case.

Calhoun is currently facing three counts of murder in the second degree and three counts of abuse of a corpse in the second degree. He is in police custody on an unrelated charge and is expected to be transferred to Multnomah County jail in the future. Investigators have not disclosed specific details about the case, including any possible connections between the victims or the evidence linking Calhoun to the crimes.

Anyone with information regarding Jesse Lee Calhoun is urged to contact the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation into these tragic deaths continues as authorities work to bring closure to the families impacted by these senseless losses.
