JACKSON, MI – A Jackson man has been sentenced to serve 50-80 years in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Paris Marquis Hobbs, 33, was convicted after a jury trial for sexually assaulting a dancer at a gentlemen’s club in Jackson in 2019.
The victim reported the assault to the Jackson Police Department, leading to an investigation that resulted in Hobbs’ arrest and subsequent charges. Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain handed down the sentence on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Prosecutors hailed the decision as a victory for the victim and the community.
Hobbs, now facing a minimum of 50 years before being eligible for parole, had been identified as the perpetrator in the 2019 incident. The court records show that the victim’s courageous report and the subsequent investigation ultimately led to justice being served.
Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka expressed satisfaction with the sentencing, stating that it not only brought closure for the victim and her family but also sent a message to the community about the consequences of such actions. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting sexual assault and the commitment of law enforcement to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
In light of the evidence presented during the trial, Hobbs was found guilty by a jury, demonstrating the judicial system’s dedication to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual assault. The ruling underscores the severity of such crimes and the significant penalties that come with perpetrating them.
