New York, New York – A Manhattan judge has denied music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request to delay his upcoming sex trafficking trial by two months. The judge ruled that Combs, who has been incarcerated for months, has ample resources to prepare for the trial scheduled for May.
Combs, 55, had requested the delay in order to gather more evidence for his defense. However, Judge Arun Subramanian noted during a court hearing that Combs has the support of lawyers from four defense firms to help him prepare.
Three alleged victims named in the indictment will be allowed to testify using pseudonyms, while Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura is expected to testify using her real name. Combs, who has been held without bail at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024, appeared calm during the hearing.
The rapper, known for hits like “I’ll be Missing U,” is facing charges of leading his record label as a criminal enterprise and forcing women to take part in drug-fueled sex activities he referred to as “Freak-Offs.” Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following the hearing, Combs was able to exchange gestures with his mother, Janice Combs, who has been present at nearly all of his court hearings. Opening statements for the trial are scheduled for May 12, with expectations for the trial to last between eight and 10 weeks.
