HOUSTON – A Pasadena woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined for the murder of her estranged husband, as confirmed by Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. Samantha Washington, 34, was convicted of killing 28-year-old Gregory Kirk on May 11, 2021, with whom she shared three children. The jury found Washington guilty of premeditated murder and handed down the sentence.

According to Ogg, Washington had a calculated plan to kill Kirk and carried it out in broad daylight, leaving her children fatherless. The tragic incident took place at Kirk’s workplace on his lunch break, with his three-year-old son present for a playdate arranged by Washington.

Multiple witnesses and surveillance footage confirmed that Washington shot Kirk, which led to her prompt arrest by the Pasadena Police Department on the same day. Prosecutors, Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Magill and Nevin Denise Day, revealed that Washington had sent threatening texts to Kirk a week before the attack, making her premeditated intentions clear.

Washington is required to serve half of her sentence before being eligible for parole and has been ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. This case serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence, especially on innocent children caught in the crossfire.
