Kidnapping and Murder Charges: Amber and Jamie Waterman Indicted in Shocking Federal Case

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – A federal grand jury indicted a couple, Amber and Jamie Waterman, on November 16 for their involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a woman named Bush. The Watermans were charged with two counts in the indictment, which was returned by the grand jury in Springfield, Missouri. They are currently in federal custody awaiting trial.

Amber Waterman faces charges of kidnapping resulting in death and causing the death of an unborn child. Jamie Waterman, on the other hand, is charged with being an accessory after the fact to kidnapping resulting in death. The indictment alleges that Jamie assisted Amber in hindering her apprehension, trial, and punishment, with knowledge of her involvement in the kidnapping.

Due to the seriousness of the case, the joint trial for the Watermans has been postponed until June 2024. Interim Benton County prosecutor Joshua Robinson confirmed that such delays are not uncommon, especially for cases of this magnitude. The additional time will allow everyone involved to adequately prepare and conduct a thorough investigation.

Robinson also stated that they intend to seek the death penalty for Amber Waterman. He emphasized that despite the case being transferred from the federal system, their pursuit of the death penalty remains unchanged.
