San Antonio, Texas – A 46-year-old man was shot and killed by a San Antonio Police Department officer on Saturday evening during an attempted robbery at a Southside restaurant. Chief William McManus provided details of the incident, stating that the suspect, armed with a large knife, refused to drop the weapon when confronted by the officer. In response, the officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect in the upper body.

Despite the employees’ brave actions in chasing out the suspect, he proceeded towards an adjacent apartment complex. It was there that the officers encountered him and instructed him to drop the knife. When he failed to comply, the officer resorted to using deadly force.

Life-saving measures were initiated, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency medical services arrived. McManus noted that he had not yet reviewed the bodycam footage and cautioned that the information provided was preliminary and subject to change.
